It was in 1938, during a trip to New York, that the young entrepreneur from Northern Ireland John Denman Dean found himself faced with a revolutionary new material, Nylon. He returned home with a container full of this new material and soon after the war he found a use in hairbrushes with enormous success.
Denman was then bought by the Rainey family in 1972 and a crucial part of their business plan was to continue the brand's close collaboration with creative and innovative hairdressers. Working with influential hairdressers from around the world, Denman has developed a wide range of different tools and brushes that make up the Denman range to this day.
